Some people go to yoga to stretch....

I go to pull my whole life together.

My mom put me in my first yoga class when I was 6. I was hyper active, and she refused to medicate me for ADD (Thank God for her hippie ways!!).

I learned 3 part breathing, and was able to curb my squirrel-esque at least a little bit, when I needed to.

I wouldn’t do yoga again until I was in a girls home at 17 years old. And let me tell you the teenager I was, it didn’t last, it was something my mom wanted me to do and I wasn’t having a lick of any of that.

At 26 I was in a residential treatment program that literally saved my life, and yoga was at minimum, daily. It became a stress reliever for me & something I carried into my new life & motherhood.

Fast forward to 2012, I had some scholarship money and a math class I had to get through. So I decided to take my Yoga Teacher Training just to fill some credit hours & to create a home practice. I never had any intention of teaching.

What I found through diving into the depths of what yoga truly is, I found ways to heal parts of my life I had been dragging around for years. New journeys into growth & self love that I didn’t know I needed. And a new way to look at & deeply love both humanity & our world.

My mat has become a place for me to find healing & healthy ways to deal with life in all its beautiful chaos.

Beyond all the physical benefits is so much more. The word yoga literally translates to the connection between body & mind. By focusing on a physical connection to our own bodies our mind begins to navigate differently as well. Yoga can teach us how to see the world differently, in a lighter way, more loving & non-judgmental way. It can help us see how we connect to every other human on the planet even when we disagree. Yoga has carried me through stress, injury, grief, among other stages of life.

Yoga for the mind, body & soul, is yoga for life.
